Thanks to Nancy White’s Blog for pointing me to Beth Kanter’s great case study on fund raising via widgets – definitely something more people need to know about…

Firstgiving.com is another great website that can help anyone achieve their fundraising goals, using this website you can create your own personalized online fundraising page. Firstgiving is partnered with GuideStar (a registry of nearly 2MM non-profits) and and so you can raise funds for any registered non-profit. After you create your page you can send out your link to everyone in your online network (via email, blog, or social networking site) and then they can visit your site to leave a donation! Firstgiving also provides a widget or badge that you can post into your blog or social networking page. Any funds raised are directly transferred to the non-profit so there isn’t the hassle of figuring out where the money goes or registering for a PayPal account.
